Masters on court…

We are a very proud province in the Master’s ranks with the announcement that 4 Canterbury players make up 25% of this year’s NZ Test series team recently announced to compete in October against Australia in 3 tests in Timaru.

The Australian teams are incredible hard to compete with but this year’s mix is very strong so we can take particular pride in the following four players that have competed for NZ before, which is still a major achievement and pride every time their names are read out.

The fabulous four are;

  • Karen Walton: 7th NZ Masters team rep, 1 AUZ title and 7 National Titles played for Canterbury Masters team in excess of 17 years; the evergreen lady
  • Freda Walker: 6th NZ Masters team rep, Runner-up AUZ Title 3 times and 8 National Titles, 25 appearances for Canterbury Masters, won bronze medal World Masters Games 2017; ever ever green also
  • Scott Gardiner: 6th NZ Masters team rep, 5 National Titles, Runner-up 35+ World Masters 2008, a double Senior and Masters rep on many occasions; multi man
  • Wayne Seebeck: 4th NZ Masters team rep, Manager twice, 6 National Titles, Runner-up AUZ Champs twice, 1 AUZ Champs Title, NZ Masters Director for 15 years, Represented Canty 20 plus years; a newly minted pensioner getting better by the age on n off the court

Well done everybody best wishes for test series and Individuals in Timaru
