Sixteen Canterbury squash players returned from Oamaru on Sunday night after playing off against Southland, Otago and Midlands in the annual South Island Quadrangular Tournament. Canterbury proved victorious after a hard weekend, defeating Southland on Sunday who came a very close second place; 34-30 matches.
Each team consisted of 8 men and 8 women broken down to 6 juniors (Charlie Barker, Caelum Betteridge, William Quin, Shalee Harris, Hema Govind, Kimberley Higgs), 6 seniors (Scott Gardiner, Jackson Beresford, Joe Williams, Maria Smith, Ruby Turnbull, Kelsi Carrick) and 4 master players (Chris Jarrett, Nigel Lloyd, Sue Wasley, Trish Jordaan). Canterbury also claimed the titles for Senior Men, Master Men and Master Women, the men not losing a single match throughout the tournament.

Ruby Turnbull against Katie Fairweather – lost in five after a fast paced and great battle to the end.
Scott Gardener against Eb Swann – having to win every rally six times before getting a point.
