The Awards are the region's iconic celebration of sporting achievement, recognising coaches, officials, athletes and administrators. Squash had a great representation with four nominees and a finalist; Paul Coll, who lost out to Kieran Read. Well done to all our nominees and Paul.

Finalist

  • Paul Coll, Sports Man of the Year

Nominees

  • Megan Craig, Sports Women of the Year,
  • John Brown, Coach of the Year,
  • Burnside Squash Club, Club of the Year
  • Canterbury Men's Senior Team, Team of the Year

Junior Scoring – Change in Scoring

At the 2016 Squash NZ forum, it was agreed by all regions that ALL Junior events will use point a rally scoring (PAR) to eleven for the 2017 season with a review to take place at the end of the year. This includes all club sanctioned tournaments and interclub events.

Please note: that scoring for all senior and masters events is PAR eleven for higher graded players (roughly B1 and above) and to fifteen for players roughly graded B2 and below. Where a junior competes in a senior event this ruling will take effect. The Scoring system used should be the same for every player in a tournament grade / division.

Squash Canterbury have decided to implement from 30th April, to coincide with the first D Grade tournament of the year and prior to the start of the CHCH Autumn Junior Interclub commencing.
